Warning: FBReader was originally created for PDA, not for desktop. Desktop version is still experimental.

To run FBReader, expat and libbz2 libraries should be installed on your desktop.

Since version 0.8.5, you can install one fbreader package with several user interface modules. By default, ‘FBReader’ command line runs the program with gtk+ interface. To force UI type, run ‘FBReader -zlui qt’ or ‘FBReader -zlui qt4’.

For Debian/Ubuntu users.

FBReader packages for debian/ubuntu are available from the separate page.

For Fedora Core users.

FBReader is now included into Fedora Core 7 and Fedora Core 8 updates. Just install it from the standard repository. (If you use yum, just type “su -c 'yum update fbreader'”).

For AltLinux users.

FBReader is now included into the Sisyphus repository, thanks to Anton Farygin.

For OpenSuse 10.3/10.2 users.

FBReader is packaged for the OpenSuse distribution, thanks to Antony Dovgal.

For other Linux distributions.
